SalesChef enriches the product information your PIM stores.

A PIM is the system of record: it stores, organizes and distributes product information. Enrichment is the work of filling, correcting and completing that information and making it sell. Most businesses need both. SalesChef works with your PIM; it is not one.

A PIM stores the record. Enrichment completes it.

The two words describe different things. One is a system. The other is work done on the information in it.

A PIM is the system of record
Akeneo describes a PIM as a central source of truth for collecting, managing and enriching product information, and as one system of record for each sales channel’s catalog.
Enrichment fills, corrects and completes
It finds missing details from reliable sources, fixes mistakes and conflicts, and keeps the source behind each change. SalesChef Enrich does this work.
Enrichment also makes it sell
Complete facts are the floor. Enrichment also researches what shoppers need and explains why they should buy. SalesChef Sell makes the pages, listings and campaigns.
The two overlap in places
Some PIMs include enrichment tools. Akeneo documents rules and AI configurations that generate attribute values, such as descriptions and summaries, inside the PIM. Check what your system does and who confirms the output.

Which one do you need?

Start from where your product information lives and where it fails.

You need a PIM if
Many people edit product information, many channels use it, or you cannot say which version is the right one.
You need enrichment if
Records are missing details, supplier files conflict, or the pages do not answer what shoppers ask. Each channel also asks for different fields: Google Merchant Center and OpenAI each publish their own list.
You need both if
You manage a large catalog across channels and want it complete and persuasive. The PIM holds the record. Enrichment improves what goes into it.
You need neither yet if
You have a small catalog in a spreadsheet and few channels. Start with enrichment on the spreadsheet. Add a PIM when the number of people and channels grows.

How SalesChef fits.

SalesChef works alongside a PIM, or without one. SalesChef is not a PIM. Send your product information from the PIM, a spreadsheet or a folder of supplier files. SalesChef checks and completes it, then returns it in the format your team needs. Your team approves what goes live.

Your questions, answered.

What is the difference between a PIM and product enrichment?

A PIM is where product information lives and is managed. Enrichment is the work that makes that information complete, correct and persuasive. One is a system; the other is a job. Some PIMs include tools for the job.

Do I need a PIM and enrichment?

Many businesses do. A PIM keeps the record in one place. Enrichment improves what is in the record. If your information sits in spreadsheets, you can start with enrichment and add a PIM later.

Does my PIM already enrich product information?

Possibly in part. Akeneo, for example, documents rules and AI configurations that generate attribute values inside its PIM. Check what your own system does, how it finds new facts and who confirms them.

Is SalesChef a PIM?

No. SalesChef works alongside a PIM or without one. SalesChef Enrich checks and completes the information. A PIM stores and manages it.
